Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 12 peeps (assorted colors)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add egg and vanilla, mix well.
- Combine flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, mixing until dough forms.
- Divide dough into 12 equal portions. Flatten each portion and place a peep in the center.
- Wrap dough around the peep, sealing edges. Place on baking sheet.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are lightly golden.
- Cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
- Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
- For best results, use fresh peeps.
- Dough can be chilled for 30 minutes if too soft to handle.
