Description
A comforting shepherd’s pie with a flavorful garlic mashed potato topping. Perfect for a hearty family meal.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground lamb or beef
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 carrots, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup frozen peas
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 cup beef stock
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 lbs potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 4 tbsp butter
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 cloves garlic, roasted
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Brown the ground meat in a pan over medium heat.
- Add onion, carrots, and garlic. Cook until softened.
- Stir in tomato paste, beef stock, Worcestershire sauce, peas, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes.
- Boil potatoes until tender. Drain and mash with butter, milk, and roasted garlic.
- Transfer meat mixture to a baking dish. Spread mashed potatoes on top.
- Bake for 25 minutes until golden and bubbly.
Notes
- Use lean ground meat for a lighter version.
- Add grated cheese on top for extra flavor.
- Leftovers keep well in the fridge for 3 days.
