Description

A comforting shepherd’s pie with a flavorful garlic mashed potato topping. Perfect for a hearty family meal.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground lamb or beef
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 cup beef stock
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 lbs potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 cloves garlic, roasted


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Brown the ground meat in a pan over medium heat.
  3. Add onion, carrots, and garlic. Cook until softened.
  4. Stir in tomato paste, beef stock, Worcestershire sauce, peas, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. Boil potatoes until tender. Drain and mash with butter, milk, and roasted garlic.
  6. Transfer meat mixture to a baking dish. Spread mashed potatoes on top.
  7. Bake for 25 minutes until golden and bubbly.

Notes

  • Use lean ground meat for a lighter version.
  • Add grated cheese on top for extra flavor.
