Description
These chewy and colorful patriotic crinkle cookies are made with a butter-rich base and a surprise twist. Perfect for July 4th or party favors!
Ingredients
FOR THE DOUGH:
2 cups (240g) all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup (113g) unsalted butter, room temperature
1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
2 large eggs, room temperature
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
FOR THE COLORING:
Red gel food coloring
Blue gel food coloring
FOR COATING:
1 cup (120g) powdered sugar
Instructions
1. Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt together.
2. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy.
3. Add eggs and vanilla, beat until smooth.
4. Mix dry ingredients into wet until combined.
5. Divide dough into 3 parts: leave one plain, color others red and blue.
6. Wrap and chill dough for 1 hour.
7. Preheat oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet.
8. Roll one portion of each color together, form into balls.
9. Coat in powdered sugar and place on baking sheet.
10. Bake 10–12 minutes, cool slightly, then transfer to rack.
Notes
For best crinkles, coat dough generously in powdered sugar and don’t overbake.
