Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda

- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- Orange and black gel food coloring
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened (for frosting)
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 2 tbsp milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract (for frosting)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
- Whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.
- Cream butter, then mix in eggs and vanilla.
- Alternate adding dry ingredients and buttermilk to the butter mixture.
- Divide batter into two bowls; tint one orange and one black.
- Spoon batters into cupcake liners, swirling for a marbled effect.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes, then cool completely.
- Beat butter, powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla for frosting.
- Tint half orange and half black; pipe onto cooled cupcakes.
