Description

This comforting Hamburger Potato Casserole is a cheesy, meaty, and hearty dish perfect for a family dinner. With layers of seasoned ground beef, tender potatoes, and creamy cheese sauce, it’s a satisfying meal!


Ingredients

Casserole Base

  • 1 lb ground beef (browned and drained)
  • 1 cup onion (chopped)
  • 4 cups potatoes (thinly sliced)
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup (for a creamy texture)
  • 1 cup milk (to thin the sauce)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder (for flavor)
  • 1 tsp salt (or to taste)
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper (or to taste)

Topping

  • 1 cup cheddar cheese (shredded)


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish.
  2. In a skillet, cook ground beef and onions over medium heat until beef is browned. Drain excess fat.
  3. In a bowl, mix together the cream of mushroom soup, milk, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  4. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the baking dish, then add half of the beef mixture. Repeat the layers.
  5. Pour the soup mixture over the top, spreading it evenly.
  6. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove foil, sprinkle cheese on top, and bake for an additional 15 minutes, until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  7. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving. Enjoy!
