Ingredients
- 1 lb fresh green beans, trimmed
- 4 slices thick-cut bacon, chopped
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Cook bacon in a large skillet over medium heat until crispy. Remove and set aside, leaving the drippings in the pan.
- Add onion to the skillet and sauté until softened, about 3 minutes.
- Stir in garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add green beans, chicken broth, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Stir to combine.
- Cover and simmer for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until beans are tender.
- Stir in the cooked bacon before serving.
Notes
- Trim the ends of the green beans before cooking.
- Use low-sodium chicken broth if you prefer less salt.
- For extra flavor, add a splash of apple cider vinegar at the end.
