Taiyaki is a Japanese fish-shaped dessert filled with sweet red bean paste or other fillings. It’s crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup sweet red bean paste (anko)
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Mix flour, baking powder, and sugar in a bowl.
  2. Add milk and egg, then whisk until smooth.
  3. Heat the Taiyaki pan and lightly grease with oil.
  4. Pour batter into the fish molds, filling halfway.
  5. Add 1 tbsp of red bean paste in the center.
  6. Cover with more batter to seal.
  7. Cook for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown.
  8. Remove and let cool slightly before serving.
