Ingredients
2 cups elbow macaroni
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 cups whole milk
1 cup heavy cream
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 cup mozzarella cheese
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
Salt and pepper to taste
For the Chicken:
2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
1 cup buttermilk
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Vegetable oil for frying
For the Honey Pepper Glaze:
1/3 cup honey
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 teaspoon cracked black pepper
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
1. Boil macaroni until al dente, drain and set aside.
2. In a pot, melt butter, stir in flour to form a roux.
3. Slowly whisk in milk and cream until thickened.
4. Stir in cheeses, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Add macaroni and mix well.
5. Marinate chicken in buttermilk 30 minutes.
6. Dredge chicken in seasoned flour, fry until golden brown.
7. Mix glaze ingredients in a saucepan until heated.
8. Toss or drizzle glaze over fried chicken.
9. Top mac and cheese with glazed chicken and serve.
Notes
Keep chicken and mac stored separately for best texture.
Add milk when reheating mac.
Air fry chicken to re-crisp.
